Eaten 4 times there in last 5months...for lunch and dinner...have also done take-out (beats anything at the food kiosks at Tsawassen!!)...Visit every time I'm back in Surrey...it's not the high-end Indian restaurant that maybe some ppl want...but the food is good, lots of it, and the price is unbeatable! :)
There was another Indian restaurant in same area - tiny little place with fab food, nice staff, lots of fun to go there. Then they moved across the parking lot and went high end...the food was still wonderful, but the service tanked and the price sky-rocketed. Moral of the story is I hope Mehfil stays just like it is (but gets a little more business so they stay in business!!) because it is a decent place to eat! :)
ps. the service is actually somewhere btwn 3 & 4 - depends on time of day! ;)

The food is not that great. The butter chicken tastes chemically and is thin like soup. Their dessert buffet is laughable and is usually thin, watery custard with canned fruit pieces. Sometimes, if you're super lucky, they will have watery rice pudding.
There is NEVER any naan at the buffet and you have to ask them to bring some (to which they will usually give you a dirty look). When they do finally get around to bringing out naan, it's rubbery like they have just microwaved frozen naan.
The service is pretty horrible. The decorating is ugly and the washrooms are filthy. When they "greet" you at the door they will point to a table across the restaurant and order you to "sit there." If you request to sit at a different table, they glare at you. They don't clear away your dirty dishes. They don't pour your water for you. If you don't tip the waitress, she will remember and give you the silent treatment the next time you come.
There is a reason the restaurant is always empty and that's because the food and service sucks. If they want their business to succeed they need to make major improvements (in particular, come up with a better, thicker butter chicken recipe). And until they do, I recommend you stay away.
